Open SUNY Textbooks, an initiative that has been active since 2012 and has saved SUNY students over $840,000, recently announced a new component to its efforts to produce and distribute open educational resources (OER). SUNY OER Services will help support OER initiatives at SUNY campuses by partnering with Lumen Learning to provide resources and a collaborative community for the adoption and development of new open educational resources.
Faculty are able to apply for SUNY OER Services and receive personalized help to get up and running with open education. This is an exciting program and one that will help provide a framework for more and better OER across all SUNY campuses.

Our textbooks are free and open to all institutions. Browse our available titles or the SUNY catalog to find learning materials suitable for your courses. You can link to our page, or you can upload the PDF or ebook in your LMS.
We provide SUNY faculty access to the ABCs of OER: the ability to Adopt/adapt, Build, or Create open textbooks, courses, and other OER.
Tell us about your course & needs and we will connect you with practices and people that can help you find and adapt existing OER courses.
Need something a little more customized? There might be multiple books, websites, and courses out there that will fit your needs. We will work with you to locate, select, and integrate the content that can best support your course objectives.
Have you written course materials you want to openly license and share? Are you looking to develop some new material to use in your class? We offer an easy to use platform where you can write, edit, collaborate, and publish! In addition, we connect you with support throughout the development process, coordinate peer review, and provide access to formatting and editing services.
