"This list is a compilation of suggestions I have heard, mostly on Twitter. We don’t yet have studies of the extent to which these approaches would work. Even if they work now, they may not work with future, more capable versions of the AI text generating software. Many of the practices raise ethical questions or can have unintentional negative side effects or opportunity costs. Therefore, this list is not an endorsement of the ethics or efficacy of these practices. I offer it to show the variety of possible responses and the need for further research and deliberation in order to form discipline-specific guidance."

"This is an open and evolving list put together by a writing teacher who is not an expert in the field, with suggestions from a few other more knowledgeable folks."
This list supports communication about the role of artificial intelligence in generating text that can take the place of writing produced by humans.
